FAQ's
What is your lip balm made of?
Our lip balm is made of Fractionated Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax and Essential Oils, that'it.
What is your packaging made of?
Our lip balm tubes are made of FSC card and kraft paper with a wax lining. They are bound with plant based and starch glues.
Why is it so important that This is Nature's Shield Lip Balm is plastic free?
We learnt about the dangers of microplastics both in lip balm ingredients and from plastic lip balm tubes. We hated the thought of putting chemicals on our lips and swallowing them and we learnt that sea turtles swallow the microplastics created by non recyclable or compostable plastic tubes. It makes them feel full so they don't eat and they die. We wanted to do something about it.
Has This is Nature's Shield won any awards?
Yes, in 2023 we were awarded the Surrey Hills Trademark for Quality and Sustainability, in 2024 we beat 6,000 entries to win 'Go Henry's' Kidpreneur National Award and in 2025 we won The Young Business Showcase Best Product Award.
Where else can I buy This is Nature's Shield Lip Balm?
You can buy our products in Ocado Supermarket and The Peacock Beauty Lounge, Shalford.
What is This is Nature's Shield mission?
Every time someone buys our products, it stops a plastic product being purchased and ending up in landfill. Our mission is to sell 20,000 products by 2029 and to teach young people to read labels and spot microplastics so they can protect their health and our oceans.
How big is the lip balm microplastic problem?
The average person has 4 lip balms on the go at once. Across the 29 million households in the UK, that means there are over 232 million lip balms in circulation, most of these end up in landfill because plastic lip balm tubes are too small to be recycled and will not decompose over time.
Would your products make a good sustainable corporate gift or goody bag?
Absolutely! Our natural products, good story and sustainable solutions mean they make fantastic corporate gifts, wedding favors, party treats, birthday gifts and teacher thank you presents. There is something about gifting eco friendly products whilst supporting young entrepreneurs that makes people feel really special.
